Dropbox and Prezi (unrelated)

Panopto Dropbox.

We added a dropbox to a Panopto folder (as mentioned on 6 Nov) and it works fine. However, the students do not see a link in the Focus block to download the Recorder.  They can get the Recorder but they must go to the Panopto Media server to get it.

Recording Prezi

The recording last Thursday where the lecturer used Prezi worked and initially I thought worked very well but now I have reservations. Some tutors love single canvas presentations like Prezi but often they don’t gain anything by discarding a linear approach like PowerPoint and of course they lose the accessibility of having text you can search and navigate with.

This is highlighted in Panopto where you lose the ability to search the presentation file for words. You also lose the ability to search for a particular slide (because there aren’t any).  I saw this (see image below), which I thought was odd (because the slide on the right isn’t sync’d with the video), but I can’t find it again (I mean the top image with the words “No, no!”)  even by going to the time as indicated.  It’s all just one long screencast and video with no searchable text.
